Keep in mind that the local indigenous, the ones legally recognised as the traditional owners of the *freehold* land that Regis owns, did not oppose the mine.
Section 10 is being weaponised by opportunists and anti-development types, getting a few indigenous on side (again, they are not homogenous.. always find a few to protest) and our minister/Government is too scared / pissweak / utopian /think economic progress is something governments create or otherwise just f*ing stupid to call this bullshit out.
I see this as in a similar vein to so much today culturally, we have people in charge too scared to be the actual adults and too busy placating every minority group with a belief that just because you're a minority you must be correct.
