They have the chance this time to say "told you so" we kept the powder dry for this exact moment and now we'll actually execute the buyback?? Of course in these times it's a defence mechanism more than giver a boost to the SP unfortunately. When Blue chips are down 8-10% it's pretty grim. Will it be short (change of mind on tariffs) or protracted into recession?
