Well the SP is jumping around a bit, I sold 600 at $17.20 and another 700 at $17.30 to return $22430 less $40 brokerage but it looks like I could have got over $17.40 if I had been patient and collected another $200 or conversely just before midday today and got $400 less.
I have just applied for the maximum of $30K worth of shares which should get me 1894 shares less the 1300 I have just sold so 594 shares for a total outlay of $7610 or $12.82 per share. It hasn't been that low since Sept '21 after the SP was absolutely pummelled in early 2020 and has never regained its 2019 highs since.
Now the only thing that will stuff that up is if the SPP is scaled back and I may end up with less shares (but more cash) than I started with. It will also be interesting to see if there is some selling pressure after people see what their allocation is or whether the SP keeps on the recent upward trend and I would have been better to hold on to my entire allocation and sell in a few weeks (because I never wanted to take up the maximum amount for the long term).
Of course the SPP doesn't close until Monday so anyone can try a similar exercise and if you don't already have enough shares to sell you can always wait until the SPP allocation arrives into your portfolio, the share price is not likely to drop back to $15.84 anytime soon and it may just keep on rising so your only problem will be timing your sell order
