The way I see it, Archer’s biochip device (lab-on-a-chip detection) is disruptive technology but in a positive way. Last year, the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and real-time PCR testing market was worth $22.4 billion, due to the surge in number of tests being conducted for the diagnosis of COVID-19. However, it is expected to be a $16.2 billion industry by 2027, see story: Grand View Research, Inc.

Nevertheless, what Archer seems to be doing is streamlining the process and potentially taking away from the need to use exclusively PCR testing. Furthermore, if it can successfully identify and diagnose many diseases, pathogens and their strains, essentially, they will have a 'broader' market, captive audience and be in a league of their own.

All good news for human health and with all due respect to @nickynoonah, this is 'potentially' very exciting stuff!
