Depends on grade. But location could be a problem too, for a large scale project you want the plant right next to the deposit.

Barrick can use Troy's infrastructure for exploration. And they will be interested in what Troy will find at Smarts u/g at depth, drilling will be much cheaper once u/g.

Troy has an agreement in place and is able to import duty free. Barrick needs to have a similar deal or they can forget their elephant.

Is it relevant if Troy could get a higher percentage? They already discovered gold at Gem Creek, so I agree it would be unreasonable to give that up without a higher percentage.

One thing is clear: Barrick does not need more than the JV, but at the same time it is foolish to not take care of the situation at Troy. Without recapitalization or some other deal Barrick will have a problem regarding the viability of the JV.

No one will fund Troy alone for 89000 oz when they still owe creditors and employees what they do.

Barrick, or others will pick over what is left and look after their own shareholders as they should.. They don't owe Troy anything .
