Very true and sorry to hear (I've had my fair share of shonky tradesmen/builders during renovating property too). But an audit also costs money (an audit partner at a big4 accounting firm is charging anywhere between $500-$1k/hr) and I still don't know what it will tell them. Whether their financials are stated correctly? Whether they have the liquidity to pay (and if they don't, then we can't collect anyway AND we have audit costs to wear)?
