Yeah I had the report as better than good and more than met my expectations.
"The middling thing" I saw as a complete bonus.
Shipping 137000t was down on what I expected. But not a reflection on production which was at nameplate (588000tpa). When you see that stock not shipped at 30/9 exceeds 40000t this became more than palatable for me. Will be shipped this quarter for an even higher price. Good thinking on management's behalf????
Price received US4266 was also down on my expectation of US4500 but I was anticipating 5.5 not 5.3 so pretty much what I was thinking.
EBITDA of $A875m from my quick calc right in line with what I expected. Albeit for the wrong reasons.
So in conclusion had they shipped just half (20000t) of the stock they had on hand at 30/09 they would have achieved an operating profit for the quarter by my calcs in excess of 1 BILLION SA.
Fabulous achievement.
While I am singing their praises what hasn't been mentioned on here (that I have seen) are the drilling results that were announced deep in the report indicating more resources below what they have currently evaluated. Worth a report on its own.
So their achievements for the quarter get a thumbs up from me.
