The only flaw that I can see in your argument is that there will be other competition in the market, and DCC has squandered its first past the post opportunity. Think of it this way;

Say 'iron ore' and most people will say BHP.
Say 'money' and most will say bank.
Say 'sports car', and many will say Ferrari.
Say bitcoin, and it would be wonderful if people said DCC. But they won't and if another company lists AND promotes, that will be the one they will say.

Liquidity in the DCC market is now down to the point where traders are scared away. The ONLY way to get that up is to promote.

Not saying DCC has the right or wrong play when it comes to timing, just pointing out that when they start spruiking the product will be critical. In the very loosely paraphrased words of some wise observer: Those who start revolutions usually aren't around to finish them...
