I can see your point and agree about the mining. The complexity of mining is a real turn-off for ordinary people, and I don't know why the average joe needs to know anything about it. I have bought and traded bitcoin at near zero cost, its simple, instant, easy and effective, absolutely fantastic and definitely the way of the future. I do not need to know anything about mining to use bitcoin. Exactly as I can spend $$ without knowing or caring how it came in to existance. That's what the company should be promoting.

The only flaw that I can see in your argument is that there will be other competition in the market, and DCC has squandered its first past the post opportunity. Think of it this way;

Say 'iron ore' and most people will say BHP.
Say 'money' and most will say bank.
Say 'sports car', and many will say Ferrari.
Say bitcoin, and it would be wonderful if people said DCC. But they won't and if another company lists AND promotes, that will be the one they will say.

Liquidity in the DCC market is now down to the point where traders are scared away. The ONLY way to get that up is to promote.
