I posted this yesterday, but it's worth repeating for perspective on the outcomes of class actions.
Roughly (look it up for yourselves)
65% are settled. By settled, this means they don't go to court. Negotiations lead to an agreed payout, which is less than the claimant demanded, more than the company wanted to pay. So less than 300 million.
30% get dismissed, no settlement, no court hearing to assess. Claimant gets nothing, company pays nothing.
The other 5% proceed to court. The court then hears both sides and makes a decision. It's not a sure thing that they will agree with the claimant's demand, so the result is ???? Maybe nothing to the claimant, maybe part of what they claim.
So there is a 1 in 3 chance here statistically that this thing will be dismissed, and 2 in 3 chances that the settlement, if any, will be a lot less than the 300 million demanded.
People need to stop promoting the idea that they will automatically take a 300 million hit.
