Hi all,
This is my first post. I have held ORE during the last 9 months but not at present. It was my original intention to hold it for much longer because I like the company's fundamentals, but I decided to sell recently with a small profit. I currently do not hold ORE. Part of the reason is the relentless shorting that has affected the company. Another reason is the series of mistakes and oversights by company management (e.g., spreadsheet error, recent weather issue). I read the company's explanation on the inclement weather affecting soda ash delivery to the plant. The company states that it had a contingency plan, but it was obviously not good enough and I frankly do not buy the company's excuses. In my opinion, the company should have had a much more robust contingency plan in place to endure a severe weather event. For example, they should have kept sufficient storage of soda ash in the plant to last for several weeks to withstand the extreme weather that can be expected in Olaroz and in the nearby roads. I think the company's engineers should prevent this type of situation from occurring again by reviewing and improving the contingency plan for a more extreme weather event. Otherwise, this will turn into new problems and opportunities for shorters to strike again in the future.
I consider myself to be a novice investor and I very much appreciate the positive and negative post from most members of this forum. As I stated earlier, I do like the company's fundamentals (brine, low cost, etc.) and I hope to buy ORE again. However, I am going to wait until I am convinced that management has gotten its act together and that they have minimized the errors/oversights that have occurred in the past. This is all IMHO and DYOR.
