Seymour Whyte Limited (ASX:SWL) has been awarded a $43 million contract by the Queensland Government to deliver the Warrego Highway Upgrade project, strengthening the company’s forward order book to in excess of $450 million.
Managing Director, David McAdam said “Seymour Whyte has continued to strive to maintain a healthy order book.”
“The increased forward order book, together with a number of active tenders, puts the Group in a strong position for the remainder FY15 and beyond.”
The project, located between Nugent Pinch Road and Charlton in the Darling Downs, is the first stage of a new $500 million Nation Building program funded by the Federal Government.
The Group secured the project following the successful delivery of a number of flood reconstruction projects for the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads in 2014.
“Seymour Whyte achieved great success in delivering complex flood reconstruction projects across the region, reinforcing our expertise in challenging transport infrastructure.”
“We look forward to solidifying our growth path within the Darling Downs region.
“Expertise gained from flood reconstruction projects will be transferred onto current and upcoming federally funded Nation Building project packages, supporting innovation in construction and engineering, and ultimately value for money for our clients.”
Seymour Whyte has an expansive portfolio of recently awarded projects, including the design and construction of Townsville Ring Road.
The Group also secured the Maitland Railway Roundabout Upgrade, NSW Roads and Maritime Services; Jindalee Watermain Replacement and Rising Main Solution Project, Queensland Urban Utilities; and maintains preferred tenderer status on a large urban utilities project in Sydney.
Warrego Highway (Nugent Pinch Road to Charlton) will begin construction in early 2015.
