The most successful takeovers are cash plus shares deals with a solid well credentialed suitor. Kirkland Lake would be well positioned to take out DEG (or some of the sisters) especially considering they already have an Aussie listing. A share swap deal with any company not listed on the ASX can turn into a nightmare for small shareholders as they can be left with a parcel of shares offshore and no way to sell without paying through the nose. I got caught with a small parcel of Centamin some years back. They send a dividend cheque written on an offshore bank regularly but it is in US dollars and the bank charges and exchange rate makes it virtually worthless.
ComputerShare (Jersey) who are the transfer agents won't even answer my emails and because nobody ever issued certificates when it moved off the ASX (it was on CHESS) in Aus it can't be sold.
