I agree with all parts except the concept of selling down stakes in projects...
to use a BAD example... look at NEW... it is a solar generation portfolio akin to a financial instrument constructed pre-GFC... no assets owned 100% and valuations are questionable at best.... now they are selling assets to cover debt issues and continue to pay a dividend which should never have been the selling point of the stock - but it was / is.
If a project is built and the metrics favour selling to allow the development of a better opportunity in another location - I am fully supportive as long as a reasonable RoR is achieved. The only location they MUST (IMO) keep is Kidston... as it can handle solar, wind and Pumped hydro all in the one spot
I am all for geographical diversification on generation - as you say... weather patterns unlikely to impact the whole of QLD at once... but more likely than the whole of Australia at once.
