Never participate in a SPP until the last moment. There's always the chance you will get the shares cheaper on the market before it closes. You can do this easily these days with Bpay, 20 years ago when you had to post off a paper form and cheque to , say, Sydney there was always a chance you could get shafted by market changes after you sent off the cheque.
