When you think about it it's kind of crazy that we have large lithium batteries travelling down the roads at 100kms, but your point is right. I haven't read about any residential lithium fires, but it'll only take a few houses being burnt down when these batteries start to age a bit and any weaknesses start to show..
There is comment of size of vfrb's for residential, but they can be made to look nice, and many people haven't hesitated to house large water tanks on there property, and a vfrb is about as flammable as a water pump attached to those tanks..
I know what I would choose 100% of the time. Even for added cost, which if you plan to invest in that house long term as a residence or rental property, a vfrb will catch up on value when a lithium battery would be due for replacement.
