As SLX's market cap increases and ETF's start to include it in their portfolio, such as ATOM, etc. then there is a requirement for liquidity, so that the ETF can rebalance by buying or selling the shares with minimal effect on the price. ETFs aim to be a price taker rather than a price maker.
I think selling shares to institutional investors will improve liquidity. It may not be a big issue right now, but if SLX eventually gets included in the S&P ASX 200, then larger cap ETFs, like VAS, STW and IOZ, will be looking for liquidity.
