Isn't the issue this:

If you participate in the SPP you are providing funds to the company so that it can develop and grow.

If you buy in the market at a lower price, then yes you pay less. Your funds though go to someone else. Not to the company.

If all SHs do this the company possibly will not have adequate funds (except from the underwriter, perhaps) to pursue its planned works. And therefore become attractive to newbies and, eventually, the instos and financiers. So your 15 cents soon could become maybe12 cents.

If though you had participated in the SPP your 20 cents might just become 25 cents or more in the market.

I know what I would prefer to do.
