Our client a regulatory body that assesses, evaluates and monitors medical goods to ensure quality, safety and performance is seeking an APS5 Departmental Officer in the Drug Control Section, Regulatory Services and Drug Control Branch.
This role will be offered as an APS5 equivalent hourly rate until the 17th April 2020.
The Office of Drug Control (ODC), within the Regulatory Services and Drug Control Branch, regulates and provides advice on the import, export and manufacture of controlled drugs, as well as the cultivation of cannabis for medicinal purposes to support Australia's obligations under International Drug Conventions.
The Drug Control Section regulates the manufacture of narcotic drugs, including medicinal cannabis, under the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967 and collects data relating to manufacture and consumption to meet Australia's obligations to the United Nations International Narcotics Control Board.
The section is also responsible for granting licences and permits that authorise the import and export of certain narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, precursor chemicals, antibiotics and anabolic/ androgenic substances controlled under the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations and Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations.
Role responsibilities include; however, are not limited to:
Assess complex applications for licences and permits under the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967
Produce written reports to support the Director in decision making.
Undertake compliance and monitoring activities including inspections.
Manage complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates will need to demonstrate the following:
Sound attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work on time
Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to interpret legislation and exercise sound judgement consistent with a regulatory framework.
Certificate IV in Government Investigations (Regulatory Compliance)
In addition, you will be an Australian citizen and possess or have the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance or higher.
