If you have the flexibility and financial resources, you go for the maximum and wait for the scale back. I've been involved in a few SPPs and initially went for a lower number and the scale back was pro rata and based on SPP shares applied for. So then I decided for each SPP to go the whole hog of $30,000- and wait. No guarantees tho what the approach will be.
Just on todays trades, the parcel of 3,018 shares being sold has occurred numerous times so far (16 times). A bit weird.
