I agree with @Blisti1. I don't think it's a scam. I've had a few calls like this over the years. Companies engage a calling company to make these calls about takeover offers, SPPs, rights issues and other corporate actions. Probably a good thing to do to raise awareness of the offer, given we don't seem to be receiving it in the post and there would be quite a number of "passive" shareholders who don't follow announcements and may not be aware of the offer. I used to think this happened when offers seemed to have a low take-up but in the past, I've been called for very successful offers, so I'm not sure it's a good indicator. Just something some companies will do and many don't.
