Not so strange. The buy back does not affect net tangible assets whereas the SPP does. ALI's management fee is 1.2% of NTA so it's good for management whereas the buy back is good for shareholders. Mind you, are they actually buying back shares at the moment? If so, there should be regular notifications to the ASX and I don't see any.
