But at least it passes the "gesture" test.
Because the earlier announcements in relation to the SPP read very poorly; it was as if they were saying, "We're doing a placement and maybe there will be an SPP, depending on how the placement goes."
In order words, you retail shareholders will only get a look in if we need to call on you... funder of last resort, in effect.
I suspect they copped some negative feedback to that end, which may have led to today's announcement.
But all-up, not quite up to their normal pristine standard of communicating with the shareholder base.
