The same principle as for the consolidation.
Say a share value gave a dividend of $0.005 per share.
On consolidation that would be $0.05 per share.
On the basis of profitability:-
If a company makes $1M profit - the profit remains the same whether there are 100,000,000 shares or 10,000,000 shares.
