    Interesting theory, and your ex-GS mates could be right. A few problems with that theory though. It seems to be taking the PRC puppeteers a long long time to get the message. Also selling gold at an 8% discount for 5 years is akin to paying the price that the market would otherwise be happy to sell their shares for no?

    I'm banking on less complex reasons:
    1. The company has not really had a great run into production;
    2. It has consistently missed guidance;
    3. For all the people saying how good technically Matt is it took some time before they realised they needed to augment the contract mining fleet
    4. There appears to be issues with maintaining a consistent head grade to the mill;

    I think the briefing they issued to the market was pretty naïve. It said nothing that we already didn't know (other than quantifying the stockpile) and said much more to the market (by what it didn't say). What was the Feb-24 production. If it was good, why not be screaming it out to the market. They are trying to buy time, and I'm surprised the market didn't sell on this announcement.
