I was thinking we had discussed the brain / stroke possibilities with pyc peptides before. The deal with bio link as detailed below was in this field. I don't erer recall hearing much more about it but maybe they have been quietly beavering away on this in the background to??. Would be nice if this was another totally independent iron starting to heat up in the fire. Maybe they are involved in some more breaking news?

Phylogica (ASX: PYC, XETRA: PH7) has signed on Bio-Link Australia to assist in bringing its anti-inflammatory Phylomer peptides for pharmaceutical use to commercialisation.

These unique peptides have shown substantial potential as drug candidates for multiple diseases and conditions with unmet medical need.

Under the terms of the agreement, Bio-Link will work withPhylogica to monetise these assets through out-licensing or disposal of the Phylomer peptides to a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.

The family of anti-inflammatory Phylomer peptides – including lead candidates PYC35, PYC36, PYC38 and PYC98 – target the AP-1 pathway, which is a crucial mediator of inflammation in various diseases.

The AP-1 pathway plays a critical role in neuronal cell death caused by stroke and traumatic brain injury, and lung inflammation resulting from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and septic shock.

Phylogica’s Phylomer peptides have demonstrated efficacy in multiple preclinical models for stroke, traumatic brain injury and ARDS.

Phylogica and Bio-Link’s commercialisation efforts will be supported by a grant of $20,000 from the Western Australian Government’s Innovation Vouchers Program.
