The story about the WANRI breakthrough has received good publicity apart from ABC radio. Life Scientist has an article titled Minimising the Damage of Stroke. Currently there are no neuroprotective treatments following a stroke.
WANRI reports from its website;
“It’s an area that many researchers are no longer pursuing as everything has failed to date,” said Adjunct Associate Professor Bruno Meloni, adding “some have lost hope that neuroprotection of this kind will ever become available.
It would appear that the reason for the inclusion of R9 in the Phylogica slide has been solved. It will be interesting to see the story unfold. Did the team from WANRI achieve its results with R9 linked to the phylomer candidate or could Phylogica have demonstrated a 159 fold improvement to what is already a potential medical breakthrough of global significance.
