Andrew and Akki, I hear you, as I am also a long suffering SH, but before you get too caught up in the notion they are only doing scientific studies like a uni group, take a moment to think through the commercial potential of what they are talking about - and have now given us time frames on. I mean it is mind bogglingly large. 90% of the worlds diseases are currently untreatable - but may not be for too much longer. What do you think this would be worth in commercial terms? More than $30m?
Anyway, in approx 6 mths they say they will provide proof of concept (animals models) that they can deliver biologics on an intracellular basis in therapeutic doses and with specificity. IF they can pull that off it's is a significant step that no body else in the world has achieved. To my mind this is very exciting as it seems to be what everyone is chasing, i.e. the holy grail....and we find this out in just 6 mths. I think there's value there, but clearly it's a punt as the science may not pan out, but if it does it should be of some value I would have thought.
No doubt in pharma land it's bound to be of interest. Whether its enough to convince them to open the cheque book, who knows. Maybe they say "come back when you have the full data pack" which could be 18 mths off - and closer to Andrew's thoughts re news just before another CR...?
Anyway, we can't expect them to rid the world of all known diseases overnight, so let's enjoy the fact they are (again) communicating and we have clear guidance. We can all make our own investment choices from here.
