They said they couldn't do it between different brokers whilst suspended. They told me the transfer could only be done if the buyer/seller both had the same broker.
Lesson learned - never invest your profits fully back into a stock. Retain enough cash from the sale to at least cover the CGT liability. Unfortunately I took some profits around Aug last year, but then fully re-invested that money in Dec. My plan was always to sell some again before the year end to free up enough cash to pay the CGT. Didn't quite work out!
