No. State Forest does not equal National Park. State Forests are "reserved" but specifically contemplate mixed land use. The Boddington gold mine and a big chunk of the Alcoa bauxite production are on State Forest lands (old growth Jarrah in the case of Alcoa). Do some Googling. Now that drilling has been green-lighted and heritage clearance received the way forward is very much de-risked. The "unknown-unkowns" still lurk out there but if the mineralisation holds up there is no reason at the moment to believe that a mine could not be developed on the SF after the appropriate studies and lengthy approvals process. Still a multi-year++ journey to go but I'm breathing a lot easier tonight. Time to go and crack something red and tasty!
