2304 GMT [Dow Jones]--Deals for copper assets could keep rolling and short-term economic uncertainties are unlikely to deter activity in the sector, Macquarie says in a note. "We expect copper M&A to continue at both the mine and company level in 2H," Macquarie says. "One such example is Khoemacau, where private equity owners have put the asset up for sale with news reports indicating that Sandfire and South32 are considering a bid." Khoemacau produces 60,000 tons of copper and 1.6 million oz of silver per year and is an underground mine located in the Kalahari Copper Belt of Botswana. A planned expansion could increase annual production to 130,000 tons of copper and 5.0 million oz of silver, making it responsible for 0.5% of global copper output, Macquarie says. ([email protected])
