The depth and grade do not phase me too much. Thickness could be an issue but essentially a random hole into multiple square kilometers of basin so gives proof of concept.
I was somewhat surprised by copper minerals in the core photo being in a granitic host rather than the sediments seen at surface.

Metamorphic grade appears to be quite high or from intrusive host?
By chance I came across an article in The Northern Miner (from Canada) that referenced Lumwana that is mentioned today's announcement. This is a recent presentation from Midnight Sun which has property near Lumwana that is included int the TNM article which may not be accessible without a subscription.

Work in Zambia and the DRC is coming up with intersections in the 1-20m range at depths of some 1000m+- that are considered potential mining targets [Kobold's Mingomba; Ivanhoe's Kitoko and western forelands project are examples]. The link to Ivanhoe's site can lead to a wealth of data about the potential for copper belt style deposits. The latter are more sedimentary than the core above IMO though having copper rich solutions flowing in a system is a great start.
