It depends on the method of mining and the scale of the deposit. Newcrest's Cadia East operation uses block and cave underground mining which is very efficient and low cost. Initial AISC was $100 per ounce, but will be more like an average of $250 over the 30 year mine life. The video below describes the block and cave process at Cadia
