Not an African, but an European miner. Brendan mentioned in an email after i answered him the same question Polish mining company KGHM as an example.
They're mining Copper/Silver in 3 underground mines between 600-1250 m, ore sickness in average 3 metres, grades approx 2% Cu-Equi (Opuwo in comparison 3% Cu-Equivalent).
