Detailed 1m re-sampling of composite aircore sampling has extended the mineralised envelope at Metalicity’s McTavish South prospect.
Besides confirming significant widths of mineralisation and providing better definition of high-grade intercepts, the re-sampling also returned significant intercepts at two holes – MCTSAC0005 and MCTSAC0008 – that had previously returned anomalous gold results.
Highlights from the program are 7m at 2.4 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 29m including 2m at 4.27g/t gold from 30m (MCTSAC0020) and 10m at 1.89g/t gold from 69m including 2m at 5.33g/t gold from 69m (MCTSAC0021).
Meanwhile, hole MCTSAC0005 returned a 3m intercepts at 1.11g/t gold from 65m while MCTSAC0008 returned two zones of 4m at 0.89g/t gold from just 2m and 5m at 0.73g/t gold from 34m.
Metalicity (ASX:MCT) notes that the results indicate that there is significant potential to expand upon these results and guide the next stage of exploration.
“The step out drilling program, which began in March 2022, has turned out to be a big success, with not only further significant high grade gold intercepts identified, but substantial extensions to known mineralisation revealed,” chief executive officer Justin Barton said.
“The step out program has
substantially increased our gold footprint in the area and has provided the company with substantive new data to target, not only extensions to known mineralisation but also, new mineralised zones.
“The company looks forward to using this new data to target further highly prospective gold anomalies.”
Re-sampling program
During 2022, Metalicity had drilled both aircore holes – in relatively soft weathered rock – and reverse circulation holes – in fresh bedrock or material too hard for aircore to penetrate – at McTavish South
While assaying of the 4m composites from this drilling allowed the company to quickly expand the footprint of the prospect – exploration of which remains at an early stage, it moved to carry out re-sampling of 10 of the 31 aircore holes that had returned significant and anomalous gold mineralisation.
Besides increasing the mineralised envelope of the prospect, this work has also improved its understanding of the nature of the gold mineralisation while supporting the interpretation and position of host structural zones.
Notably, the results at McTavish South are similar to Carnavale Resources’ recent exploration success at McTavish East where high-grade gold has been discovered along a similarly interpreted and tested host structure.
Upcoming work
Metalicity will now interpret all drill information for use in planning a follow-up aircore and RC drill program to further delineate and expand on the interpreted mineralised zone at McTavish South.
This will also seek to identify the potential for mineralised extensions at depth into both the weathered zone and fresh bedrock.
Additionally, assays are pending for multi-element analysis results from the end-of-hole at 110 holes drilled in early 2022.
The analysis for pathfinder minerals such as arsenic, antimony, bismuth and molybdenum will provide additional information on possible mineralisation trends along strike and help refine follow-up drill programs.
