the geochemical sampling program at Big Hill will be of interest for tin tantalum and lithium. There are some old scratchings around the area where artisanal miners (Don Mcleods mob) went dry-blowing for columbite (tantalum-niobium) and cassiterite (tin).
The Aboriginal miners worked all through these areas in the 1950s until the early 1970’s, hand sorting the surface deposits and filling old fruit tins with the product. It earned enough to make a pretty good living.
