You know the area very well @mustpow I did a quick bit of searching and confirmed your information including a detailed history of Don McLeod and friends. You are correct, we should make sure we test for tin, tantalum, Lithium, REEs as well as gold. Clearly the pegmatites are different from the gold bearing intrusions but they may well appear side by side, one intruding the other. The 1980 geology report referred to below describes gold in granites in the Pilbara.

The Mallina goldfield was declared in 1888 so perhaps DeGrey are working in a brownfields location?

The 1980 report below gives some description of the Strelley and Tabba Tabba Lithium (Li), Rare Earths (REE), Tin (Sn), Beryl (BeO), Tantalite/Columbite (Fe,Mn)Ta₂O₆/(Fe,Mn)Nb₂O₆ workings, production and geology (P200-220 on the page not digital no.). All production was related to pegmatite dykes. Most of the production was from elluvial and alluvial deposits derived from the pegmatites. Emeralds to 8.68 carats (cut) have been found in Pilbara pegmatites. Li from rare earth pegmatites was recorded from Strelley and Tabba Tabba. Beryllium and Tantalite production figures are discussed.
