Yea, I failed to recognise the flow of money out of sector to be honest. I invested in BGL in the 2018/19 gold rally you can see below and failed to recognise the macro setting that allowed for it ending when it all topped in 2020. That is my main learning. The recent teaser run for the gold price wasn't enjoyed at our end of the market but was for the likes of BGL and DEG. If the trend resumes speccys will run last and run the hardest. 2009 probably felt like a shit time to own a gold speccy too I would imagine. It draws a lot of comparisons to now, and I hope we now enjoy what followed 2009.
