Totally agree PLCENT, to have an all-encompassing agreement signed up front at this stage is fantastic news. This is far more than just another box ticked, as Mark states it highlights what is hopefully a longer term mutually beneficial relationship between AWJ and the Ngadju. In this day and age, to get an agreement like this over the line really does suggest that there is respect and trust from both parties…certainly not a small point to gloss over.
Rorbag, from past experience the Ngadju and their respective NTAC are the opposite. Look at the dealings with IGO, with Goldfields St Ives, Pantoro etc. Much of what they are ensuring is around education and future employment and/or support for business ventures that they have. The split/direction of 'funding' or 'benefits' from these types of agreements are proposed and authorized through RNTBC meetings that all Ngadju Native Title Holders are invited to. Is it a perfect process, no probably not...but my view is that the Ngadju NTAC are genuinely working for the betterment of their community.
