Generally in CSG you want to set the pump as low as you can (below the seams) in the well to maximise drawdown at the coal-wellbore interface (and minimise water head above the pump). I wouldn't think they'd place the pump based on indentifying fractures as it would be counter-productive. It's all about getting the BHP as low as they can so you can draw pressure down as low as possible.
Generally in CSG you want to set the pump as low as you can...
