Has been a solid day and hopefully just the beginning!

Saw an announcement from Altech Chemicals (ATC.AX). They are doing some interesting work in optimising battery anodes to increase the performance and safety of lithium batteries, specifically the battery anode.

An interesting finding they have made is coating graphite in the anode with High Purity Alumina (HPA) makes material improvements in both performance and safety. They use Kaolin as the HPA feedstock!

Interesting opportunities in SA for battery anodes at the very least, given they are mainly made of graphite and copper (masses of copper mined north of the eyre peninsula). Combine that with HPA coating utilising Eyre Peninsula Kaolin and SA's abundance of renewable energy, is there a better place in the world to make a battery anode?

Good opportunities for govt's to create a battery/critical materials processing hub in either Eyre peninsula or somewhere like Whyalla and then who knows what will attach to it (anode manufacturers, maybe battery manufacturers, who knows what downstream activities)!

ITM would be pretty well placed in this world!
