A steady increase in price instead of massive jerks going up, calms the profiteering pressure (pressure to sell to book a profit). It also keeps the traders away who like and play the volatility.
I'm happy with 5-10% increases every day on good news decreasing to 2-5% daily on a somewhat linear gradient. (imagine a power curve of rotary engine with supercharger for our historical sp chart!)
