I do remember when I was a trainee and instructor was teaching us the basics about lasers and optical fibres, he placed an optical fibre in front of the laser diode and shone it on a blackboard where a series of red dots appeared he was using multi mode fibre, I asked the instructor if they could use that to advantage by using an prism to make each of those dots a separate op/fib system, he said don think so? I believe they now use that today, but I am wondering whether they could use multi mode fibre to do something similar i.e break the laser light into multiple beams and perhaps even use the mirror or vibration as well to move those multiple beams around, perhaps the laser would have to be more powerful? but IMHO a number of beams could produce a much better result if it worked?
