If one has looked after senior adults with incontinence situations before, one would know that it is not the technology (or the lack of) which en/discourages the adoption of adult diapers.
It is the psychological barrier called "shame factors" that decisively influence the adoption of adult diapers.
This situation is similar to hearing aids, walking frames/sticks, etc. The world is not short of "smart" hearing aids and other "disruptive" mobility solutions, and yet the uptake is still sluggish at best even among adults with clinical needs.
It is premature to campaign into nursing homes/facilities without first addressing the core issue of perception, the "shame factors". This could easily be branded as "dehumanising" if caretakers put on "smart" diapers for reluctant residents.
