After an award is made by The Arbitration Panel an Appeal can be made to The High Court within 30 days. Following this the court can allow a further Appeal to The Appeals Court. After that a Foreign Enforcement Order can be sought. The average waiting time between the filing of enforcement proceedings and the date for the hearing of the matter ranges from three to six weeks (Appendix B of the Supreme Court Practice Directions). However, time periods may be longer if enforcement is resisted. For the purposes of enforcement, foreign arbitral awards are recognised in the same way as a Singapore arbitral award (section 29, International Arbitration Act (IAA)), provided that the award was made in a country that is also party to the New York Convention. The Indonesian Law No. 30 of 1999 regarding Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolutions (Arbitration Law) recognises arbitration organised by ad hoc tribunals and arbitration under the auspices of an institution.
