Hi Calm, he definitely alluded to not needing any capital at the moment, though of course at some point they will need to do another raise, as they are drilling and drilling costs $$. Very simplistically, while I can understand that some on HC view capital raisings as bad 'full stop', in many cases they are right, because most exploration companies just keep doing the same thing... drill a little, hope they hit something big and the majority don't they raise.. etc etc. Dilution by a thousand cuts.
However for SPR, with more gold being found, a rising POG, infrastructure in place, a dearth of development ready projects in W.A that are of a scale above 100k p.a, SPR has the ability to raise at higher prices (BGL is a good case in point). Minimal dilution to successfully prove up a remarkable discovery is a great outcome for all stakeholders.
Cheers @LibertyS, that is very kind of you. I 100% understand how you feel about DEG. I can be very honest and say I sold quite a few... after it doubled (from $0.04 to 0.08 as I just did not truly grasp what they had found), though luckily... even a small holding has seen some phenomenal returns (I still hold 10% of my original holdings). As for the lesson.... as you say, hold onto your winners, because, if they truly are winners and not... Lithium stocks a good example, simply a boom based on speculation, then what you have is a long life asset which will.. be developed and will make money. Everything else... taking profits is bloody wise.
I guess I would argue SPR has many things going for it some of those reasons are above. Is there any other asset in W.A that has the potential to produce 200k p.a at what could be sector leading AIC? BGL was the last one I can think of and with a market cap of $2b, the horse has bolted.
Momentum is indeed a factor too though.
Just for some context, a small stock I was recently introduced to, did a raising and was strongly supported (the SP has not gone down the raising price, which is interesting as... the exploration part of the precious metals sector is very.... unloved). I think this shows that as above, there is a real lack of quality exploration plays on the ASX (sure... there are lots of explorers, but sadly, they exist with no real plan for commercialization, SPR has that in spades).
You are likely right about any dusters, though SPR has had a prenominal run. I admit it's hard not to get a little excited about Sly Fox, as SL was at pains to explain that with 'fresh eyes' the deposit is showing a lot of promise (my paraphrasing).
@Joelstar - I did note that little comment regarding when production might occur. Is he just keeping potential predators on their toes, or... does he have a plan... for a restart that is much more real that many believe?
