Can somebody with more experience explain why they bought into a prospect that FMG worked over and didn't progress?

between 2013 to 2019."I would like to hear/understand the broader strategy for M4M. Are we
- picking up a collection of smaller packages, that together make for a scaled operation?
- targeting smaller scraps of high quality?
- Looking to explore and quantify targets that our neighbours would then acquire for a premium?
