It’s common practice not to lodge an IP objection until the 11th hour of the cut off date. The reason being is to hold your cards close as to the exact nature of your objection so the patent cannot be ‘word altered’ to suit within the 12 week period due to knowledge of said objection.
If a patent procedure is not new, has been known, published or publicly disclosed prior to lodging the patent there’s grounds for the application to be defeated if the opponent can demonstrate that the applicant has sold or discussed the invention in public.
