Long story short (no pun intended) State Street are a Boston based ? funds manager with gazillions under management and they take strategic positions in companies with a strong future for the purpose of lending those shares to short sellers.
They are prolific in the battery materials space, especially Lithium. Since Joe handed out the subsidies to countries with a free trade agreement they have come to our shores.
Unfortunately not good news for the short term (see CXO) but if the company fundamentals are good the long term is good.
IMO ... not to be taken as advice.
