The consequence is farcical. SKI had every chance to invest their $80M by 31 Dec. They had had the draft BFS for months and had signed off on the samples. What was lacking was completion of the conditions precedent - the financing package. That will still not be completed until the 3rd Qtr 2019.

So what is the point of extending the window for exercise of the options by a mere 7 weeks. What is going to change in that time to get over the line. Not the finance package, we know that! So why?

I think the answer is window dressing. I think shareholders have been softened up for SKI not exercising the options with this line: 'If it does not do so in the period, the OT Agreement remains on foot, it simply means that SKI is not entitled to any discount'. There is no need to put that in, if there is confidence that the options will be taken up. As well, they are not scheduling a Gen Meeting to approve the options - but will only organize it after the event of SKI electing to exercise.

I can see no reason for SKI exercising by 20 Feb if it could not exercise by 31 Dec. Doesn't make sense.

At least we have greater clarity about the financing. Good to see BB come clean about just how long the NAIF process takes, something I commented on extensively a few months ago and, as usual, got shouted down for my trouble.

The announcement also underlines just how critical the NAIF funding is - that the other finance is essentially pending this. Otherwise, why wait so long?
